The Scottish Countryside Alliance adds its voice to calls for information on recent deaths of birds of prey.

Jamie Stewart Director Scotland said: It is extremely disappointing to hear news of a number of incidents reported in the media involving the shooting of birds of prey, inc a satellite tagged hen harrier from the Langholm Moor Demonstration Project, and a Buzzard in the Scottish Border country.

As a committed member of PAW Scotland the Scottish Countryside Alliance supports the Scottish Government in their commitment to empower Police Scotland Wildlife crime officers to bring an end to these outdated criminal activity. Incidents of bird of prey.

Persecution have fallen to a low level over the last five years and we want to ensure that everything possible is done to eradicate them completely. The Scottish Government has made it clear it is committed to dealing with this issue vigorously and we support its objective.

The importance of reporting crime or suspected criminal activities involving wildlife as soon as possible cannot be over emphasised; those who hold on to information for whatever reason diminish the ability of our dedicated wildlife crime teams in their investigation and prosecution of criminals.

I would urge anyone with any information on the latest incident to contact Police Scotland as soon as possible.
