With spring edging ever closer and slowly but surely elbowing winter out of the way, this period is just as bustling within Fishing for Schools as it is in the natural world.
This year especially, we embrace a spring and summer with not only a full calendar of schools, but some very exciting plans that will, without doubt, shape the future of Fishing for Schools for the coming years ahead.
For now though, I have the rather more immediate business of getting ready for the annual gathering of the fly fishing clans – The British Fly Fair International… This remarkable event (I am not sure I have missed one since the beginning) is our Game Fair equivalent and with the diminishing Game Fair angling attractions, this seems to be the spark that ignites our flame.
I would also add that for Fishing for Schools it is a vital sinew to the audience we want to engage with who, in so many ways, are generous, encouraging, questioning and inspirational…. YOU!
Taff was a catalyst for a generation of fly fishers and to have a donation like this and be able to offer it to the general public is a very rare and wonderful opportunity.
So please, come and visit us and grab a slice of fly-fishing history – and in the process, do what Taff would have wanted; inspire and fuel yet another generation.
Now that is a legacy we can all subscribe, too.
