Where to buy game

Written by Countryside Alliance | Jan 1, 2000 12:00:00 AM

The British Game Assurance's Eat Wild campaign aims to encourage people to think differently about game, providing key information on its nutritional benefits and the high standards of the BGA mark.

The Eat Wild stockists page provides a quick and easy way to seek out your nearest farm shop, butcher or delicatessen stocking BGA-assured game. Find your local stockist here.

Game is now more readily available than ever before and wherever you live there should be one of the following options within reasonable reach:

  • Supermarkets – Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrisons and Waitrose all stock a variety of wild game during the season, but you may also find it in Aldi and available to order with online supermarket delivery services like Ocado.
  • High street butchers often sell game from local estates. Your butcher should have a great amount of knowledge so ask their advice if you need to and check the provenance with them.
  • Farmers markets are a popular addition to high street shopping and a favourite for local game dealers to sell game.
  • Local estates can be a great place to buy game during the season and are often just a short distance away.

If a specific species of game is unavailable one its season has started, please be pro-active and ask your local store to stock it. When game is out of season, don't forget it is still available frozen.
