The Welfare of Animals (Docking of Working Dogs’ Tails and Miscellaneous Amendments) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2012 were laid before the Assembly and will come into operation on the 1st January 2013.

Members are advised that if they are having a litter of pups who will be working dogs in the future to read the Regulations and make them fully aware what is required to complete the Exemption Certificate.

It should not be left to the last minute so you should plan at least four weeks ahead – Be ready and complete your form and know which vet you will be visiting.

Countryside Alliance Northern Ireland campaigned and lobbied for this exemption for working dogs and we welcome this outcome. If you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact our Larchfield office on 028 9263 9911
