Aim to Sustain commits to legal battle

Aim to Sustain partner organisations have announced they will fight the latest legal action from Wild Justice.

Wild Justice is appealing a High Court decision to refuse their application for a judicial review of the Heather Burning Regulations for a second time.

Four organisations within Aim to Sustain will maintain their involvement as 'interested parties' should the court now grant the Wild Justice request as a result of this latest appeal.

A spokesperson for the organisations said: "Wild Justice continues to attack the practices that ensure legitimate, ethical and sustainable land management and to pursue legal challenges that incur cost to the taxpayer by embroiling government and its agencies in legal action.

"The Aim to Sustain organisations have fought this particular legal challenge all the way. We firmly believe that prescribed burning is an essential tool for those managing our uplands and we want to ensure these land managers have a voice in court."

The organisations involved are the Moorland Association (MA), British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC), Countryside Alliance (CA), and National Gamekeepers' Organisation (NGO).
