Call to action – Natural Resources Wales Firearms Consultation

The Natural Resources Wales (NRW) Firearms consultation is now in full swing and the doors are open for you to support NRW's proposals.

The Countryside Alliance fought hard to secure these proposals, and now is the time for everyone who understands shooting to support them. The consultation will be available to the public until 4pm, April 25^th, before NRW finalise their position.

Please take 5 minutes to support shooting and exempted hunting in Wales by responding here.

The proposals within the consultation are that NRW should:

• continue to use firearms to manage the damage caused by wild animals on the land it manages where this is essential for the Sustainable Management of Natural Resources


• consider all applications for permission to enter onto its land to control wild animals affecting our neighbours land


• consider leasing land for pheasant rearing and shooting and wildfowling where it doesn't negatively impact on our sustainable management of the areas

The future use of firearms will continue to come under attack and it is vital that the shooting community comes together to form a united front. A strong response will let NRW know the strength of shooting and the importance of shooting to conservation, the rural economy and rural communities.
