The Countryside Alliance's Comprehensive Spending Review submission

The Comprehensive Spending Review (CSR) comes at a difficult time when the country is facing one of its greatest challenges not only economically but socially. As we come out of the COVID-19 pandemic the pressure on the public purse will never have been so great and we must support those communities and services that have been impacted. We must also use the CSR to ensure that no part of the UK is left behind, especially rural areas, from north to south and east to west.

The countryside faces many challenges at this time, from a tourist industry that has been mothballed due to coronavirus to ongoing challenges such as rural crime, poor digital connectivity and a declining post office network, not to mention the challenges Brexit and post COVID-19 will bring. The Countryside Alliance would like to work with the Government to meet these challenges and share the concerns of rural communities with them.
