The Yorkshire Post has featured our Casting for Recovery programme following the recent retreat at the beautiful Coniston Hotel Country Estate and Spa near Skipton in North Yorkshire.
In "The hobby giving women a retreat from breast cancer" the paper covers the thinking behind this unique therapy programme, which teaches ladies with breast cancer the art of fly fishing on a free residential weekend course that also features counselling and medical advice. The paper also quotes some of the lady participants from the Coniston retreat, who all agree that the setting, the course and the friendships formed make for a very special programme. Read the feature.
We will then be at The Arundell Arms in Devon in October and will open the retreat to applications in the summer.
NB Places on retreat are allocated by ballot and are subject to medical clearance. Ladies are required to share a room with a fellow participant. Up to 14 ladies are taken on any given retreat - this ensures an intimate feel that is not overwhelming and enables bonds to be formed.
Retreats are run by The Countryside Alliance Foundation and are funded through donations. If you would like to contribute, you can do so here.
