Cost and T&Cs for carrying firearms and ammunition on Airlines

Opportunities to shoot abroad continue to grow annually. Last year saw over 15,000 European Firearms Passes granted allowing UK certificate holders to transport their firearms and ammunition throughout the EU. As a result of this increasing demand, the Countryside Alliance has provided the varying prices and terms and conditions of carrying firearms and ammunition with different companies.

Transporting firearms can be difficult due to safety issues in airports it is important you are aware of the terms and conditions long before departure. To avoid any issues it is recommended to contact the company's call centre in advance to make sure everything is in order.

European Firearms Passes are free of charge and can be obtained from your local Licensing Department. The European Firearms Pass is subject to change with Brexit and updated information on the subject can be found on the Home Office's website.

For those traveling outside the EU with firearms and ammunition please contact your contact in the countries being visited to ensure all permits are secured.

Those traveling to the UK with firearms and ammunition will need a Visitor's Permit (as well as a European Firearms Pass if travelling from the EU). For more information on obtaining a Visitor's Permit please contact your local Licensing Department.



Ferry Companies Terms and Conditions

As well as flying there is the possibility of travelling abroad with firearms and ammunition by ferry and train. Terms and Conditions vary considerably with each company so make sure you are up to date.
