The Countryside Alliance's Head of Policy, Sarah Lee, wrote a comment piece on rural broadband which was published in the Daily Telegraph on Saturday 7th May. The piece was entitled "This rural broadband betrayal is devastating for Tory heartlands" and in it Sarah wrote: "It would be unthinkable, and rightly so, to countenance cutting off water or electricity to isolated communities, but failing to roll out broadband is, apparently, perfectly politically acceptable. It shouldn't be. For those in Whitehall to treat rural broadband as an optional extra shows a shockingly lazy metropolitan attitude. Rural broadband should be a simple fact of life."
