Environment Secretary to address CA 'Brexit Breakfast'

Environment Secretary, Michael Gove MP, will be speaking at the Countryside Alliance's 'Brexit Breakfast' at the Conservative Party conference later this year.

The conference, taking place in Manchester from 1 – 4 October, will be the first time that Mr Gove has addressed the Conservative Party's annual gathering as Secretary of State for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs, since his appointment in June this year.

The Countryside Alliance's breakfast discussion meeting, on the Monday morning of conference, will be an opportunity for Mr Gove to set out his vision for the countryside post Brexit, and for delegates and guests to ask questions about the impact of leaving the EU on a range of rural issues. Mr Gove will also address delegates in the main conference hall later that day.

Commenting on the announcement, Head of Policy, Sarah Lee, said "we are delighted that the Secretary of State will be attending our conference event. This will be an important opportunity to discuss the principles and priorities that should underpin our approach to the negotiations, and what the Government needs to do to ensure that rural communities thrive outside of the EU."

The Countryside Alliance will be hosting similar events on Brexit and the countryside at the Liberal Democrat and Labour party conferences, based on the recommendations in the CA's Brexit Policy Document.
