Fishing 4 Schools instructor Warren White reports: We had a good day at Grove Farm (Hadlow) today with Meadowfield school. This school has children with severe and complex needs; added to the fact we had 10 students on the course it can make working with them quite challenging, but because they bring along plenty of staff the course seems to run well.
Weather conditions were against us today with a cold NE wind blowing and water temperature dropping. Today we used the classroom to our advantage with Bob in the morning teaching fly skills indoors while the others in the group were given time slots outside, fishing, with me and Charlie.
There were plenty of Roach and perch being caught on the whips and as the day went on we caught some good sized Carp on the feeder and Pole. The biggest Carp being 14lb 10oz, caught by a young lady called Alisha; she had to play this fish for over 20 minutes, but patiently stuck to her task and eventually landed the fish.
The children and staff are a lovely group to work with and are always really appreciative of what we do for them.
