An excellent day's racing was had at the Howden Countryside Alliance Point-to-Point on Sunday (24 February) at Badbury Rings, Dorset.
The organisers say more than £20,000 was raised for the three good causes supported by the event – the Countryside Alliance, the Weldmar Hospicecare Trust and Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance – with around 2,000 punters enjoying the sport.
Organiser Sara Rutherford said: "We were really helped by the glorious weather, and there was great support for the tradestands, shopping village and gallery of photography donated by wildlife and countryside photographers.
"People were in a real barbecue and picnic mood, so the food and drink stalls – particularly the bar and Silver Fox gin – were really busy, as was Firepits UK. There was really good racing and everyone and their dog was there, enjoying the sunshine."
Chairman of the point-to-point committee Sophie Henderson added: "We had fantastic local support and some great runners – it was a great half-term day out for all the family."
The committee would also like to thank specialist insurance brokers Howden who were headline sponsors of the event for the first time and Strutt and Parker who sponsored the patrons' area.
