Half-term Hunting competition winner

Written by Countryside Alliance | 9 March 2018

The winner of our half-term hunting photography competition has been chosen following a vote on social media for Countryside Alliance supporters to choose between two finalists. The images were selected from a large number of entries submitted during the recent half-term holidays and they both received great support, with the results changing over the course of the competition, making it difficult to predict which one would be victorious.

Winning photo is of the Dunston Harriers sent in by Georgina Mann

The winning image shows David Taylor alongside his six-year-old niece Jessica Kemp riding her pony called Dolly during a day following the Dunston Harriers.

The photograph was sent in by joint-master Georgina Mann. She said: "The photograph was taken by the brilliant Cindy Mayes who is a loyal supporter of the Dunston Harriers. Cindy spends so much of her time making sure she captures memories for all our followers to treasure and we are delighted that her image appealed to so many Countryside Alliance supporters."

More than 2,200 people cast their vote over the three days that the competition was active, with the winner receiving a 56% share, and the runner-up taking 44%.

"We were delighted to receive so many lovely images of younger members of the field enjoying their half-term break following hounds," said Polly Portwin, the CA's Head of Hunting. "The quality – and in many cases the cuteness factor – of the entries we received was incredibly high so we thought it would be fun to engage with our supporters through social media to select the overall winner."
