On Sunday 1st September the popular Hampshire Country Sports Day returned to the new location of Bereleigh Estate. It was an action packed day, with several of our own members attending for a great day of countryside fun.
The Countryside Alliance stand was busy all day allowing members and supporters to come along and chat with the CA team. The Working Clumber Spaniel Society were also in the CA tent and it was great to work alongside such a great team all day.
The British Hunting collection also attended, the collection is a unique snapshot of British hunting history with items in the collection dating as far back as the 18th century. They had some amazing pieces on show including diaries, photographs and their collection includes over 700 hunt buttons and badges a few of which were on display.
This year they also welcomed a number of packs to the show, with displays and chances to talk to those that work with the hounds, who were happy to answer any questions. An event that seemed popular with all was archery. Raven Field Archers provided 'have a go' archery, shooting at roundels and 3D animal targets, a great activity for all the family to join in.
The day ended with the brilliant Terrier racing organised by The Coursing Crew who have worked and competed with their own dogs for many years. They have been travelling all over the country organising and running Lurcher and Terrier events for over 15 years.
It was a great day had by all and the CA team are now looking forward to Aintree, dont forget to claim your free General Admission ticket with any valid membership. We look forward to seeing you there.
