Avian Influenza has been found on a small scale in the UK over the last week, in both domestic and wild birds. As a result an Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ) has been declared across England, Scotland and Wales. This mandates additional bio-security measures that need to be taken by those who keep birds. These measures are enshrined in law and must be adhered to. They apply to all poultry keepers, including keepers of captive gamebirds, regardless of the numbers of birds kept. Released birds, in the wild, are not included in these measures.
