about this blogRead moreThe Hunting Association of Northern Ireland (HANI) recently marked the fantastic work done by Noel Fitzpatrick and his wife, Noreen with a special presentation. For decades they have diligently prepared the show ring in preparation for the annual Hound Show at the Armagh County Agricultural Show, and we were delighted to recognise their hard work.
The show takes place at Markethill, Co Armagh and each year the show ring and surrounding area are brought to pristine condition, ideal for showing the best hounds Northern Ireland has to offer.
The Armagh County Show is one of the longest-running shows in Ireland, with reports of a show being held in the city of Armagh as far back as 1829. The event organisers ensure every effort is made to cater for all tastes and interests of the many thousands of visitors that attend the event each year, and the programme is constantly updated to reflect and respond to those interests.
The ring and surrounding area act as the focal points to showcase hunting, not only for those taking part, but also for the public who may know little about the positives of hunting. This allows us the opportunity to interact and help dispel the many myths around our activities.
Tom Fulton, through his many years of stewarding the show, has been delighted to receive the very many highly complementary comments from judges, exhibitors, spectators and others on the appearance of the show area, which is testament to Noel and Noreen’s efforts.
Given these factors, the HANI Committee decided that we should mark our gratitude and appreciation to Noel and Noreen, who helped them so much, especially in the early days of showing at this venue.
The presentation took place prior to the HANI AGM in Dunmurry just outside Belfast. The decision was strongly approved by all in attendance, as was the news that Noel now has sole charge of the setting up of the show arena. Their continued commitment ensures the future of the show for generations to come.
Noel and Noreen are true hunting stalwarts and very deserving of the scroll and libation presented to them. We give our warmest good wishes and grateful thanks to both Noel and Noreen.
