Casting for Recovery UK & Ireland is a fly fishing therapy programme which is provided free for ladies who have (or have had) breast cancer. We operate free weekend residential retreats across the UK. Run by The Countryside Alliance Foundation, each retreat is staffed by professional volunteers - medics, counsellors and fly fishing instructors make each experience supportive, fun and informative. We offer a fun and busy itinerary which includes fly casting tuition, counselling, medical advice and support and plenty of delicious food and stunning scenery. The focus is firmly on helping ladies move forward.
Applications to our retreats in North Yorkshire and Co Mayo have closed already, but other retreats in 2017 include Kimbridge on the Test near Romsey in Hampshire (July), Forbes of Kingennie near Dundee (September) and The Arundell Arms Hotel at Lifton in Devon (October). They will be opening to applications on a rolling basis so please keep an eye on our website and Facebook page for updates.
Up to 14 ladies are accepted on each retreat, a small number to keep the atmosphere friendly and to stop it being overwhelming. Lady participants are selected by ballot, having applied via our website, and each lady must have medical clearance to attend. Those successful in the ballot will be notified by email.
All any lady needs to do is get herself to us and we will take care of the rest - all meals, accommodation, counselling, medical advice, casting tuition and outdoor clothing is provided.
