Make a date for the Savills Countryside Alliance Point-to-Point at Badbury Rings

Dorset sporting highlight, the Savills Countryside Alliance Point-to-Point at Badbury Rings near Wimborne, takes place on Sunday 25 February and promises to be a great day out for all the family.

The entertainment features six point-to-point races – including the Wessex National – plus terrier racing and retail therapy in the shopping village, as well as a licensed bar and bookmakers.

The Savills Countryside Alliance Point-to-Point is a staple of the Dorset sporting calendar, attracting around 3,000 punters to the three-mile course.

Around 100 runners will take part in races over the day, including men's and ladies' opens and a CA Club race for novice riders.

Countryside Alliance chief executive Tim Bonner said: "I would like to thank everyone who returns year on year to Badbury Rings and our sponsors, including Savills, for making it such a success."

And David Cross, Savills' head of southern rural, said: "The Badbury Rings point-to-point is a very popular local event and we are delighted to support the Countryside Alliance Foundation and Weldmar Hospicecare for another year. We look forward to welcoming visitors onto our stand for refreshments."

The event is raising money for two causes – the Weldmar Hospicecare Trust, which offers specialist care for patients with progressive conditions across north, south and west Dorset, and The Countryside Alliance Foundation (TCAF) which administers the Fishing for Schools, Falconry for Schools and Casting for Recovery initiatives.

A fundraising silent auction of exclusive experiences is taking place online until 25 February at www.jumblebee.co.uk/caweldmar. Lots include a day's painting with Dorset painter of horses and rural life Charles Church and a day's roebuck stalking. Bidding ends at 2.30pm on the raceday.

Entry to the event is £30 per car or £15 for single occupancy and patrons' tickets – providing a car-pass and day-long hospitality in an exclusive marquee (sponsored by the NFU) with access to a viewing platform - is also available at £35 per head.
