On Monday 14th July 2014 the North Devon Journal reported: "Remote parts of North Devon could soon see a boost in mobile phone signals after a deal was signed to boost signal strength without impacting the landscape. The landmark agreement between National Parks England and the Mobile Operators Association will see them join forces to improve mobile phone coverage in a way that would respect the natural beauty of the environment. Sarah Lee, head of policy at the Countryside Alliance, said the accord would help level the digital playing field which for too long had seen people in rural communities forced to settle for an inferior service."
