With the Online Safety Bill receiving its first debate in the House of Commons on Tuesday 19 April, the Countryside Alliance is launching its latest survey on online bullying.
Bullying and harassment of any kind is completely unacceptable, and when the Countryside Alliance last surveyed members and supporters we found that 62% of respondents reported having experienced online bullying for supporting country sports. We have campaigned for protection against this unjustifiable harassment over many years and while we appreciate that there are controversies around the Online Safety Bill, if it is to be taken forward, we are calling on the Government to ensure it can be the effective response needed. But we need your help to make that case.
We are inviting supporters to take part in a new edition of our online bullying survey, and to share your stories with us. The survey is completely anonymous but we will use headline statistics and may quote individual comments in our approaches to MPs and the Government. We are also encouraging people to send us their experiences and examples of the harassment they have received online. With any stories submitted separately, we will keep them anonymous unless we have obtained your permission to do otherwise.
Please complete our survey now by clicking here.
For story submissions, we are most interested in receiving screenshots of abusive messages and comments you have received. Please email these to us with any other comments you would like to make at [email protected].
