Hunts are being offered the opportunity to win £1,000 thanks to the organisers of the Festival of Hunting and Lycetts Insurance Brokers.
Following a challenging few months for many hunts where the outbreak of Covid-19 curtailed the majority of their usual spring and summer fundraising events, this is an opportunity for hunts to receive a windfall from Lycetts to put to good use in any way the winning hunt chooses.
Lycetts are the official sponsors of the Festival of Hunting which incorporates the prestigious Peterborough Royal Foxhound Show. The event, which is one of the highlights of the summer hunting calendar for the hunting team at the Countryside Alliance, was cancelled this year along with all the other major hound shows as a result of the pandemic.
"After a difficult year for everyone, we wanted to help put something back into hunting," explained Peter Knowles, Sales & Marketing Director at Lycetts. "The money can be spent to repair or improve hunt kennels, or perhaps go towards new technology or even branded clothing for the hunt. Whilst many hunt fundraising activities have been hampered of late, this is another great example of Lycetts' ongoing support to the hunting community."
Polly Portwin, Head of Hunting at the Countryside Alliance welcomed the initiative: "This year has brought unexpected change to us all and with the country facing difficult financial times, an injection of funds into any hunt will be incredibly welcome."
Hunt supporters are being encouraged to nominate the pack of their choice before the closing date on 16th November. Entries are open to all registered packs of hounds that are eligible for classes at the Festival of Hunting including foxhound, beagle, basset and harrier packs.
To give your hunt the chance of winning, you can nominate it here where the full terms and conditions are available. If your hunt isn't listed, you can still nominate it by using the "other" option.
