We were delighted to see last years 'Pub Champion' winner in the Countryside Alliance Awards hosting the Royal Artillery Hunt on Saturday 23rd March.
The Swan at Enford and its landlords Peter and Emma put on a wonderful display of food and drink for both the hunt and the supporters who came out to support the local community. Proving once again that they are well deserving winners of their 'Rural Oscar' award. The Swan was crowned British Pub Champion at the Countryside Alliance Awards winners reception at the House of Lords in April 2018.
It is events like these which show the community spirit that surrounds local hunt meets. The benefits provided by getting local communities together, at amazing venues to revel in country sports are huge. This is the aim of the Countryside Alliance Awards, to bring awareness and opportunities to people who put the countryside and the community at the heart of what they do.
Anne Price, Joint Master of the Royal Artillery Hunt said: "The Royal Artillery Hunt, the only Military foxhound pack in the country were very kindly invited to a meet at The Swan, in the heart of our country. Hosted so generously by Peter and Emma Jefferies, a tremendous crowd of followers from the local community united."
Polly Portwin, Head of Hunting at the Countryside Alliance commented: "It is great to see our Award winners hosting their local hunt. Meets held in public places such as this are very social occasions for communities and it is great to have the support of local businesses."
