Representatives of the Scottish Countryside Alliance will be attending NFU Scotland's farmer's rally in Holyrood on Thursday 28 November.

Where: Outside the Scottish Parliament, Holyrood, EH99 1SP

When: Thursday 28 November 2024 Assembling from 11:30am, speakers from 12.30pm to 2pm. Attendees are  being asked to meet at the front of the Scottish Parliament.

Aim: NFU Scotland is holding this rally to call on the Scottish Budget to deliver increased and ringfenced funding for farmers and crofters.

Key messages
  • The Scottish Budget needs to deliver increased and ringfenced funding for farmers and crofters on Wednesday 4 December.
  • Farmers and crofters deliver high-quality food production, climate and nature restoration, and thriving rural communities.
  • Scottish Agriculture is essential to the country and the sector provides thousands of supply chain jobs across Scotland.
  • Now that there is no more ringfenced funding from the UK Government, it is solely down to the Scottish Government to determine future funding for agriculture. The Scottish Budget on 4 December is key.

NFU Scotland is calling on the Scottish Budget to deliver ringfenced increased funding for agriculture. The decision to increase and ringfence funding would provide assurance to our farmers and crofters that the Scottish Parliament and Government are committed to our sector. It would generate more growth and employment, and deliver the climate and nature outcomes that are vital to all our futures.
