This Sunday (31 July) is the big day for the Countryside Alliance team who are tackling the 2012 London Olympic route in a 100-mile charity cycling event.
The Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100 route winds its way from the Olympic Park out through West London and into Surrey – including the thigh-burning Box Hill – before turning for home and a triumphant finish in the Mall.
Six intrepid cyclists are taking on the course in aid of the Countryside Alliance Foundation charities – Casting for Recovery, Fishing 4 Schools and Falconry for Schools - and have so far raised more than £5,000 between them.
They are:
Toby Sallitt and Monty Browne
Sporty students Toby and Monty, who have just left Radley College, Newbury, after completing their A-levels say they are up for a challenge. As they are aged under 18 they cannot ride the 100-mile course, so will ride the 45-mile route instead. What a start to the summer holidays!

Angela Lee
Angela is our star fundraiser so far, having raised £2,083.10 for the charities. The yoga instructor says the work Casting for Recovery does is particularly important to her as her sister recently lost her battle with breast cancer.

Charlotte Cooper
The landscape of the Peak District is helping Charlotte hone her hill-climbing for the sportive, however the media consultant to the Alliance will be taking it very steadily on the day. "I'd just like to get round the course within the time," she said.

Andrew Shutler
Andrew is a 32-year-old gamekeeper from Berkshire, who enjoys mountain bike racing, horse riding, hunting and fishing. He's hoping to get round the course in five and half hours.

Ronnie Cheape
Also a yoga instructor, Ronnie is hoping for better luck than in the cycle sportive he undertook on the Isle of Mull, when his bike broke three-quarters of the way through the event. He comes from a farming background and is a strong supporter of country sports.
