Success for Alliance team in the RideLondon cycle rides

Written by Countryside Alliance | 1 August 2016

There was triumph for the Countryside Alliance Foundation (TCAF) team on Sunday, with all members successfully completing the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 and 46 mile courses.

The team has now raised more than £5,500 for TCAF charities Fishing 4 Schools, Casting for Recovery and Falconry for Schools, with donations still coming in.

Despite long delays and detours on the course, due to a number of serious accidents, all the riders completed in well below the allowed times, with the fastest riders averaging around 30km per hour on the closed roads around the capital.

Welshpool yoga instructor Angela Lee rode the course in 5hrs 50mins, excluding hold-ups. She said: "It was a fantastic experience. There was so much support all around and it really helped. I so enjoyed the experience and achievement."

And Alliance media consultant Charlotte Cooper was very pleased to have recorded 7hrs 10mins. "I'm just so pleased to have got round," she said. "The atmosphere and support was exhilarating and really kept me going."

Students Monty Browne (pictured) and Toby Sallitt rode the 46-mile route in 3hrs 24mins and 3hrs 22 mins respectively. The ride was "amazing", said Monty.

Gamekeeper Andrew Shutler rode the course in 7hrs 4mins and London yoga instructor Ronnie Cheape in 6hrs 11mins – although both faced long delays on the course.
