The Flint and Denbigh Hunt will be making a donation to the NHS following the success of their inaugural online quiz which took place on Wednesday, 13th May.
Organised by Stephanie Hughes, 25, chairman of the Young Hunt Supporters Club, the virtual event - which took place using Zoom - was attended by 64 people and was won by a hunting family. Those taking part in the quiz, which had five rounds featuring questions on general knowledge, food and drink, sport and geography as well as a picture round, included their new huntsman Robert Medcalf who recently took up his new position ahead of the start of the 2020/21 season.
"This was the first opportunity that many hunt supporters had to 'meet' Robert, albeit virtually, and it provided a fun and much-needed catch up after several weeks of lockdown," explained Stephanie, who was assisted by Billie-Jo Davis, another member of the Young Hunt Supporters Club. "Our supporters are incredibly grateful to all those on the front line who are putting their lives at risk so wanted to demonstrate their support for the NHS by making a donation from the proceeds."
Polly Portwin, Head of Hunting at the Countryside Alliance congratulated all those who took part: "It's fantastic to see hunt supporters of all ages coming together to keep spirits up, have some fun and raise vital funds for the NHS during these uncertain times. Aside from the social benefits of getting together online, hunt supporters - from the Flint and Denbigh and the wider hunting community - recognise the vital part that key workers within the NHS and beyond have played during the pandemic."
