The Countryside Alliance is delighted to continue its support as a key sponsor of the Festival of Hunting which returns to the East of England Showground in Peterborough on Wednesday 19th July 2023.
An audience of thousands is expected to attend this highlight of the summer hunting calendar which will see the 135th Peterborough Royal Foxhound Show take place. The very best foxhounds from across the country will be expertly shown to the judges with every pack hoping to claim the prestigious championship doghound or bitch hound titles.
As well as the modern and Old English foxhound classes, championships are also contested by beagles, harriers and basset hounds, making it one of the largest shows of working scent hounds anywhere in the world
Tim Bonner, Chief Executive of the Countryside Alliance said: “We are delighted to continue as a key sponsor of the Festival of Hunting and the Peterborough Royal Foxhound Show, of which we have been long-term supporters. The Alliance remains committed to protecting the future of all lawful hunting activities and looks forward to welcoming our members and supporters to this year’s event.”
Teams will be lining up against each other vying to take the title of inter-hunt team relay winners in both the junior and senior competitions which are always hotly-contested. With two opposing teams racing against the clock over a mirror image set of fences in a knock-out competition, hunts from all over the country will be vying to claim the top prize.
Another area where things tend to get competitive is in the foxhound lorry car park where the annual Hunt Picnic Competition takes place, with regular Festival goers hoping to catch the judges’ eye and win the Stirrup Cup case of port. Hunts are being encouraged to register their picnic in advance this year with full details being circulated nearer the date.
With a vast array of trade stands, displays plus refreshments and a bar, this is one of the events not to be missed this summer before autumn hunting starts again.
Advanced tickets, which cost £25 each (children under 12 are free of charge if accompanied by an adult), are on sale now and can be purchased here.
Please note: Countryside Alliance Gold Members are entitled to a free ticket to the Festival of Hunting and will be invited to apply for their ticket for this year’s event in due course.
