The Countryside Alliance is asking all members and supporters involved in trapping to respond to a Defra consultation.
The consultation is looking for views on the implementation of the Agreement on International Humane Trapping Standards (AIHTS), which governs a wide range of trapping activities around the world but is particularly relevant to stoat trapping in the UK. Everyone who uses, sells or imports traps is encouraged to respond.
The Alliance has joined partner organisations to stress that any new traps introduced to meet AIHTS requirements must also be appropriate to the unique gamekeeping conditions found in the UK. You can let the government know that traps need to be both humane and practical by following this link to the consultation, which will be open until the 30th April 2018.
If you would like help responding, or have any questions about the process, please contact the Campaign for Shooting on [email protected]
